The Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to all services provided by GlobalSpeak Language Ltd (“GlobalSpeak”, “we”, “us”), registered in England & Wales with its registered office at 123 Translation House, London, EC1A 1BB, and to your use of this website.
By placing an order, accepting a quote, or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you place an order on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind that company. These Terms, together with the applicable quote or order confirmation, form the entire agreement between us and supersede any prior arrangements.
Our Services
We provide professional language services including document translation, certified translation, website and software localisation, interpretation (on-site, remote, and telephone), technical translation, transcription, and proofreading & editing.
All work is carried out by qualified professional linguists in accordance with our ISO 17100-aligned processes. Specific service details, language pairs, delivery formats, and deadlines are set out in each quote or order confirmation.
Quotes & Orders
- Quotes are free of charge and valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless stated otherwise.
- Quotes are based on the material and information provided at the time. If the source material changes, or additional requirements emerge, we may revise the quote.
- A binding contract is formed when you accept a quote in writing (including by email) or when we confirm your order.
- Certified translations are prepared for the purpose stated in your order. Please confirm the receiving authority’s requirements before ordering.
Your Obligations
To help us deliver accurate work on time, you agree to:
- Provide legible, complete, and final source material, along with any reference materials, glossaries, or style guides you wish us to follow.
- Tell us the purpose and target audience of the translation (for example, publication, legal filing, or internal use).
- Respond to reasonable queries from our project managers promptly.
- Ensure you have all rights and permissions necessary for us to translate the material, including any personal data it contains.
Delays in providing materials or answering queries may extend delivery deadlines accordingly.
Delivery & Turnaround
Delivery dates are agreed in the quote or order confirmation and we take them seriously — on-time delivery is one of our core commitments. Unless agreed otherwise, deliverables are supplied electronically in the format of the source material or another agreed format.
If we anticipate a delay, we will inform you as soon as possible and agree a revised deadline. We are not liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control or by late delivery of source materials or information from you.
Revisions & Quality
- Every translation is checked under our quality assurance process before delivery.
- If you believe a deliverable contains errors, notify us in writing within 14 days of delivery, identifying the issues. We will correct genuine errors free of charge, promptly.
- Stylistic preferences (where the translation is accurate but you would have phrased it differently) are not defects, but we will accommodate reasonable preference changes where practicable.
- Changes to the source text after work has begun are chargeable and may affect the deadline.
Fees & Payment
- Fees are as stated in the quote. Prices are exclusive of VAT, which is added where applicable.
- Invoices are payable within 30 days of the invoice date unless agreed otherwise. New clients and private individuals may be asked to pay in advance or provide a deposit.
- We may charge statutory interest and compensation on overdue amounts under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
- Queries about an invoice must be raised within 14 days of its date; undisputed portions remain payable on time.
Cancellation
You may cancel an order at any time by written notice. If you cancel after work has started, you will be charged for all work completed up to the point of cancellation, plus any non-recoverable costs we have committed to (for example, booked interpreters). Completed work will be delivered to you on payment.
For interpretation bookings, cancellations within 48 hours of the assignment may be charged in full, reflecting the interpreter’s reserved time.
If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights, including any applicable cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. By requesting expedited work that begins within the cooling-off period, you acknowledge your cancellation right ends once the service is fully performed.
Intellectual Property
- You retain all rights in your source materials.
- On receipt of full payment, all intellectual property rights in the delivered translation are assigned to you.
- We retain the right to use translation memories and terminology databases created in the course of our work, excluding your confidential information, to maintain consistency in future projects for you.
- All content on this website (text, design, graphics, and code) belongs to GlobalSpeak or its licensors and may not be reproduced without permission.
Confidentiality
We treat all client materials as confidential. We will not disclose your materials or project details to anyone other than the personnel and linguists working on your project, all of whom are bound by confidentiality agreements. We are happy to sign your NDA on request.
Personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. A data processing agreement is available for projects involving personal data.
Liability
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
- Subject to the above, our total liability arising out of or in connection with any order is limited to the fees paid or payable for that order.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of reputation.
- We are not liable for the consequences of your use of a translation for a purpose other than the one notified to us, or of changes made to a translation by anyone other than us.
General Terms
- Force majeure — neither party is liable for failure to perform caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
- Non-solicitation — you agree not to directly engage a linguist introduced to you by us for 12 months after the relevant project without our written consent.
- Severability — if any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remainder continues in force.
- Variation — we may update these Terms from time to time; the version in force when you place an order applies to that order.
- Governing law — these Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the UK retain the protection of their local law.
